I’m not one to post back-to-back entries, I’m usually good for one a week but if you didn’t see the new ad for Chiptotle, take a couple of minutes and watch it. This is Chipotle’s first tv ad and wow! They nailed it, amazing. Smart campaign to target a “Back to Basics” farming approach in this short animated commercial featuring Willie Nelson covering Coldplay…

It reminds me of Pixar’s “Up” when they were able to convey so much emotion in the first ten minutes (when she was unable to have children) completely through nonverbal means. I’m not saying go to Chipotle’s (owned by McDonald’s) but I am saying what they made here is gold and will hopefully force change in the industrial agricultural factory farming community.
Baby steps, right?
I’d never heard of Chipolte in the UK, but I watched the video, not used to such long ads over here either, 30 seconds normally being the max. Certainly gets the point across about traditional farming methods being better!
Chipotle is a burrito place (Think Subway but with burritos instead) they use chicken and pork and cow free from antibiotics and not fed animal products but I don’t think they’re free range though. Thanks for your comment!
Here’s their info, they do raise animals naturally….and organically…. good for them! http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/fwi/fwi.aspx
Actually Chipotle is not owned by McDonalds. It used to be, but hasn’t been since 2006. I generally avoid fast food chains, but Chipotle isn’t bad when you don’t have a lot of other options.
Good to know Kate! I thought Mickey D’s still owned/operated them.
This was one of my favorite things from last year! Such a great video to promote the message- plus the music was fantastic 🙂
I thought it was debuted last night at the Grammy’s but I see it was posted in August of last year. Thanks
I was totally gonna post this today!! But since you beat me, I’ll reblog you! 🙂 This commerical was awesome.
Quick on the draw! Thanks for reblogging! It definitely needs to be shared.

Chipotle did another great video spot for farming awareness: http://creativity-online.com/work/chipotle-abandoned/24807
Great message, so creative and inspiring! And then there’s the voice of Willie Nelson to really drive it home. LOVE this. Thanks for the post.
Make me glad to have gotten up this morning and gone out to feed the goats by hand, trimmed some hooves, moved a couple of bails of hay out to the hay racks, and moved a couple of truck loads of manure to the garden in preparation for Spring planting. Thanks for finding this video and passing it along. Oscar

Very nice- thanks for sharing!
This is for sure one of my favorite commercials ever. This is the stuff those Superbowl commercials were aiming to be but just failed. Way to go, Chipotle.
Thanks for sharing the video! I facebooked and tweeted it out!
Unfortunately this video oversimplifies what happens on the farm. Many farm practices that are thought to be common, such as gestation crates for sows, are indeed not all that common.
Farmers are a notoriously independent breed, and they will do what ever works for them. Since 97% of your food is produced by family farmers, the large operation that Chipotle demonizes here is only found rarely.
There are only a few company’s that buy all of the products produced by those independent people. That those companies are the originators of your food is not the case. Look deeper before you believe the hype.
For answers to your questions on how your food is raised I suggest you check out http://findourcommonground.com/ Here you will find a bunch of smart young farm women who know where your food comes from.
I know nothing about Chipotle – had in fact never heard of them before- but I thought the video was wonderful. Thank you for sharing it.
Do you mind if I repost it on my blog The Sustain Blog?
Please repost it Nicole, Thank You!
Done!
That was AWESOME!

I am not a You Tube person but this one just really hit my heart.
Fantastic!! I sent it to a friend of mine who is trying to keep GMO out of Ireland… Thank you for liking my blogs also!
Small question please; what would grow best in muddy (ex-) free range pig soil (while the pigs have been temp. moved to another plot); maize, kale, grass. clover, etc.?
