At the rate I’m going I won’t have any tomatoes by then but I look forward to seeing the ‘contestants’!
It’s ON. I have a few gremlins already . . .
Gremlins…. love it.
I just ate the ugliest tomato ever! Alas, no picture was taken. It felt shy. Perhaps another shy contender will deign to be photographed…
what a great idea -kind of a tiara and tomatoes thing
Oh I’m going to love this! I’m so going to check my garden when they ripen.
Oh no! Wrong season for your Australian follower… Ah well, look forward to seeing the entrants.
if you have a pic from last season, send it in! or be sure to save your top pics till next year!
Oh my gosh I’m laughing out loud. I’ll be keeping track of my ‘beauties’ and hope I have one I can photograph and send. Can’t wait to see the finalists – more chuckles to be had.
We are but if you have a pic from last season, send it in!
I love this idea! Unfortunately, I gave up on growing tomatoes and buy them at Farmers’ Market now. I got tired of fighting grasshoppers.
I hope you’re going to make this an annual competition – our growing season is months off (Australia) and we’ve grown some beauties (or uglies, depending on your perspective) so next time we’ll take some pictures for you. Have fun 🙂
We will. if you have a pic from last season, send it in! or be sure to save your top pic till next year!
I like this, because our poor little drought-ridden tomato plant has only 2 tomatoes on it, and one of them looks like someone’s backside with a ugly black hole in it already and it is still green. A week or two and we might have an entry…lol. At least then that poor tomato would have a purpose…lol.
The ultimate fugly tomato animation is sent
What a great idea!
woo hoo. i will be watching out for one!! c
Tomatoes? You all have tomatoes? It’s been so hot here that our maters look like little green golf balls.
Awesome idea…if my tomatoes ever develop fruit, I might be able to enter…
Reblogged this on Sailors Small Farm.
Hi! I just wanted to let you know I’ve nominated your blog for the One Lovely Blog Award. Should you choose to accept (and I completely understand if you don’t) you can find out more at http://wp.me/p1kaAD-7U
We are in drought here and our plants did not produce so won’t be able to join in on the fun. We will sure enjoy seeing all the tomatoes though and voting.
Hmm. I’m having my worst tomato year ever. Could you make it the Smallest Tomato instead? 😦
Phoooey! We won’t get maters here in the Northwest until September (rain, cloudy days, that sort of thing). I always feel sorry for tomatoes with noses. Can’t wait to see the entries.
I’m sure I’ll have a few photos! Can’t wait now.
Game ON! We always get a few really whacky ‘maters.

Oh dear, here in England my tomatoes have only just got to the flowering stage!!! How long is the competition open for?
Now thru August. If ya don’t make it, save a picture next year to enter.
Ok, I’ll start feeding them Viagra!
Love it!
I actually bought a tomato plant this spring called “Mr. Ugly” tomato. I’ve been waiting for some tomatoes to see what they look like. This will be interesting! 🙂
This is a great idea! Makes me wish we were growing more heirloom types (they seem to be more prone to being “weird” looking–and therefore not that great for the supermarket buyer). Next year!
Great idea. I don’t grow tomatoes, but I’ll have fun voting.
I can’t get mine to ripen! And I have had a few lost to end rot!
I’m just sure I will have an ugly one to enter!!!!
My ugly tomato might just be my beautiful one too. As in I might have just one tomato. Before I gobble it, I will have a photo session.
Looks like fun.
I don’t have any ugly tomatoes (so far) this year, but I love the idea of this contest!
[…] FYI – The Soulsby Farm is having their first ever “Ugly Tomato Contest“. […]
This is great, it’s ON like DONKEY KONG! We grow some appallingly disfigured tomatoes over here. Can’t wait to see all the entries.
So…you know the old saying about beauty and the eye of the beholder and all that stuff, right? If we ever get any tomatoes (pretty pitiful looking plants so far) I’m sure there will be one beautifully ugly specimen I can share. The ones in the greenhouse have the most potential right now.
Neat idea for a contest. Still love ugly tomatoes as long as they taste good.

This sounds like a contest I might an win!
Oh man! I knew I should’ve photographed that gremlin before we ate it.
I love this idea! I have nothing to enter, since my tomatoes are not growing at all this year! Does ‘micro-sized’ count as ugly?
Hmmm… I wonder if this topic is what led you to my site… the illustration of the “shy tomato” i posted a while back may have falsely represented my blog as somehow agriculturally-themed. Hope you enjoyed it anyway.
